Prove your humanity: 7   +   6   =

The Arctis 3 by Steelseries is the most inexpensive wired gaming headsets out there at the moment that offers great sound quality for both gaming as well as listening to music.

The Design

Let’s begin with the classy matte design it has that at times does not look much like a gaming headset but like your everyday go-to headphones. The Arctis 3 comes in a variety of colors. These are Black, White, Red, Blue and Grey. Moving on to the top side of the headset, where there is a ski goggle-style strap which you can adjust depending on the size of your head. You may also purchase other colors or designs of the ski goggle strap on the official website of Steelseries.  The headset is an over the ear model with large ear cups made of fabric. The ear cups are very soft on the ears. On the back side of the left ear cup you will find a volume control wheel and a microphone mute button, as well as a micro usb port for the 3.5mm jack connection. The front side of the left ear cup is housing a retractable and flexible microphone. The buttons and microphone are not crowded which leads to an easy usage.

Comfort

Steelseries is known for the comfort that their headsets provide and the Arctis line delivered this as well. The unique ski goggle strap fits your head comfortably and it takes much of the weight off so you can enjoy some long gaming sessions without getting a headache at the end of it. The ear cups are big with soft cushions on the side that help your ears not get too warm and red after a gaming session. I would say that the Arctis 3 is the most comfortable gaming headset I have ever worn.

Performance

The audio quality of the headset is amazing for the price you are paying. I can compare it with any other gaming headset of a higher price range and you will be surprised by how good everything sounds. This is a must have accessory for any console owner. Whether I was beating Ganon in Zelda “Breath Of The Wild” on Nintendo Switch or exploring with Aloy in Horizon on the Playstation 4 I found myself drawn into the game with the quality of the sound that the headset produces. On the other hand a PC gamer has the option of customizing the sound settings through the Steelseries Engine 3 software. With the surround sound and the equalization options my gaming experience was even better. Steelseries designed a very nice microphone with a clean as a broadcast-quality microphone making your voice sound remarkably natural.

Music sounds pretty good on the Arctis 3. After taking the time to play a bit with the settings on the Engine 3 software i managed to balance the bass really well and have amazing sound quality. If someone does not have the time or knowledge to do so the quality of the sound straight out of the box is extremely good compared to the regular headphones that are out there.

The Steelseries Arctis Line

The Arctis 3 is the first in line of the Arctis series with two more models tagging along, the Arctis 5 and the Arctis 7. Recently, Steelseries made an introduction to the family, the Arctis 3 Bluetooth version for the wireless enthusiasts out there.

The Arctis 5 in comparison with the Arctis 3 offers a DTS Headphone:X 7.1 surround sound for PC users. It features RGB lighting around the ear cups and on the microphone as well in order to know whether it is muted or not. Another feature that the Arctis 5 offers is a USB connection for the PC gamers and a game/chat controller on your main cable.

The Arctis 7 is like a whole new headset comparing to the other ones in the Arctis line up. It is made out of a lightweight steel alloy, meaning that you already know that we are talking about a premium headset. It has a lag-free 2.4 GHz wireless audio with auto-channel hopping technology for dropout-free performance and up to 40ft/12m of wireless range. Talking about wireless use, it has a long-life Li-ion rechargeable battery that lasts up to 15 hours when it is fully charged.

The Verdict

Once again, Steelseries produced an excellent line of headsets at a reasonable price for everyone and with the comfort and sound quality which you would expect at a much higher price tag.

With all the above said and as a gamer myself, I highly recommend the Arctis 3 for every gamer out there that wants an amazing pair of headsets and does not want to spend much i highly recommend the Arctis 3. On the other hand if you are willing to spend a bit more then you can grab the Arctis 5 or the Arctis 7 and take your gaming experience to the next level.
